Burnaby- Vancouver B,C.
We left Comox Monday morning for the start of a year long adventure. I had just got up and had to go out to the RV to get some clean clothes when there was a knock of the door. It was a long time friend, Butch Montreuil, who droped by with a fine bottle of wine for our first night out. Thanks Butch...We had reservations on the new BC Ferry at 10:30 so figured a 8:30 departure time would get us to Nanaimo on time. When we left last year for 3 months we left the front door of our house open so I was determined to have an organized send off. Mom was on time and picked her up at her house at 8:10 in Gail's car as my truck was already connected to the RV. 8:30 came quickly but had to take a few photos. Gail locked up the house and set the alarms but as she got in the truck I realized I couldn't close the garage door because I had given Graham ( Our House sitter) the remote control. I quickly jumped out of the truck and went in the garage to close the door and exited through the side door which immediately set off the alarms. Now the alarms had to be reset and the alarm company called. Departure time delayed to 8:45. I thought I would have some sad feelings as we left Comox for a year bit I didn't. Seemed like just another trip. I suspect this will change the longer we are away. We made it to the ferry terminal by 10:02 BUT the whole Departure Bay area is under construction. There were huge lineups with no traffic control so we missed the 10:30 ferry and got an older one at 12:30 arriving at Burnaby RV parkaround 3 PM. We had a choice of 3 different sites. We chose a site that was private and had a grass area. Mom was interested as we showed her how we set up the RV and the Satellite TV system. I got the satellite aligned perfectly and now have over 300 channels. The highlight of the day was my friend Brad calling from Florida to see if we got here safely and to wish us the best in our travels. We will be meeting Brad & Sheri in October as we make our way to Florida. We then went over to Alan's for supper and got mom settled in for two weeks. This morning its overcast and a little rainy in Vancouver. Not sure what we are going to do today. Thanks to everyone that sent emails wishing us a safe trip. I will try to update "our Blog each time we arrive at a new place. Burnaby RV park is a great place and voted " Best in Canada" each year. It is next to Costco and about 10 minutes from Alan's.

I'm sorry to hear you missed the ferry you had planned on getting...but then your post wouldn't have been nearly as exciting! I hope you have a good time in Burnaby!
